Geographical Information for Chicago

    Geographic Location
    The city of Chicago is situated in Cook County, located in northeastern Illinois, on the southwestern tip of Lake Michigan, and the covers approximately 228 square miles. Chicago has 29 miles of shore line, is 15 miles wide (east - west) and 25 miles in length (north - south). The city was built on post-glacial plain. The geographic coordinates in the center of downtown are approximately 41-degrees and 50-minutes Latitude, and 87-degrees and 37-minutes Longitude with vertical elevations near 578 feet.

    Geographic Location
    Milwaukee is the county seat in Milwaukee County in southeastern Wisconsin; located where the Milwaukee, Menomonee and Kinnickinnic River join and flow into Lake Michigan. The city covers 96 square miles.
